What do you think people misunderstand most about you?
Today is the last day of the 30 day blogging challenge, and the question that I am asked today is “What do you think people misunderstand most about you?” This is a difficult question for me to answer.
I would have to day though, because of my lack of a formal education (I never went to college) that I am unable to carry on intelligent conversations or that most conversations go over my head.
Most people think I didn’t go to college due to lack of good grades and possibly intelligence. While my grades were poor, I had no problem being able to get accepted into a college. The reason that I never went was because I have a hard time in formal institutions. The fact that it is called an institution makes me wary. So I study things I find interesting, I work hard on honing skills I want to hone, and because of that I am a very good independent learner.
I have thought of taking college classes, one at a time, to help me hone skills like writing and improve upon skills I am terrible at like math. Finances keep getting in the way of that idea though.
College is incredibly expensive and we are not in a place were me taking classes for fun is a feasible idea. Even though I like to study things on my own, and I am fairly competent at understanding abstract concepts people still think that the fact I didn’t go to college makes me stupid, at least until they get to know me.
